With many mixed emotions and understandable broken hearts, the Horton Family joins with the family of Mr. Xavier Trayshawn Garland as they prepare to say “Rest In Peace”. Mr. Garland entered into eternal rest on July 27,2025 in Elizabeth City, NC.

On August 13,2025 at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel beginning promptly at 1pm a Celebratory Service of Remembrance will be held at Hortons Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with Pastor Reginald White, officiating. During this time, family and visitors can reminisce on the days of old and embrace everlasting memories, while beginning the healing process as a result of this devastating loss. 

Following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Garland’s delicate temple along with his adored family will be escorted to the Beaver Hill Cemetery for committal rights. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, parents Valan Garland and Shandell Lamont Williams; brothers, T'Keel Garland, Javonte Garland, Joash Garland, Darius Garland Swiney, Santana Garland Swiney, Alex Garland, Shandez Williams; sister, Destiny Garland Swiney; grandfather, Samuel Carter. grandmothers, Dr. Valerie Boyce (Carlton Boyce), Hannah Hassel. Aunts, Angella Knight, Chi'Mur Knight, Keisha Williams, Angela Privott, Jennifer Skinner(John), Katina Privott, and Priscilla Privott. Uncles: Duane Duarte Jr.,Monta Privott (Grace) and a host of cousins other relatives and friends.
