With many mixed emotions and understandable broken hearts, the Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Family joins with the family of Mr. William Lloyd Thatch commonly known as “Hawk” as they prepare to say “Rest In Peace”. Mr. Thatch transitioned from this life on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 2pm at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations. Mr. Thatch will lie in peaceful repose from 1pm until time of service. Immediately following the services in the chapel, Mr. Thatch’s earthen vessel along with his adored family will be escorted to Cedarwood Cemetery for Interment Rites.
Boyz to Men said it best when they put pen to parchment and wrote these heart felt lyrics: " How does this family say goodbye to what they had; the good times that made those special to William’s laugh, will always outweigh the bad; his children, mother, father, family and friends thought they’d get to see forever, but since this past Wednesday forever has gone away.....it’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday”
He was preceded in death by his loving family members, mother, Vera Lee Thatch Jones; daughter, Charlene Thatch; two brothers, Jerry Louis Jones (Love) and Nelson Issac Jones (Trick).
He leaves to cherish his memories wife, Jacqueline Thatch of the home; nine children, Nate Ferebee of Winston Salem, NC, Anitra Fields (Tyrone) of Elizabeth City NC, Kwanza Lister of Elizabeth City, NC, Renal Kee of Hertford, NC, Vera Kee, William Kee, James Kee, Edward Kee, and Tabitha Kee. He also leaves behind 22 grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Jones of Woodville, NC and Willie Lee Jones of Biscoe, NC; two sisters, Shirley Porter Hertford NC, and Ethel Riddick of Raleigh, NC and aunt, Mary Curry of Hertford, NC. William leaves a also host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
