Bowing in humbled submission to the will of our Heavenly Father, it has become the solemn responsibility of Hortons Funeral Home and Cremations to inform all that Vonda Kay Spencer is now resting in Paradise. Vonda put down the cares of this Life on December 3, 2024 in Columbia, NC. From there, she picked up her new wardrobe and golden keys for her everlasting life in Heaven.
The Life Celebration events will proceed in the following order. Beginning on Friday, December 13, 2024 between the evening hours of 6pm and 8pm a public gathering will be held as Vonda lies in repose at Horton’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Columbia, NC. On Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1pm The Celebration of Life will take place at Columbia High School with Rev. Joan Batson, officiating. Vonda will lie in peaceful repose from 12noon until time of service.
The Interment will take place at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens for Committal Rights following the services at Columbia High School.
Vonda Kay Spencer’s legacy lives on through her loving son,Derek Lamont Spencer of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is also survived by one brother, Larry Donnell Spencer (Marion) of Mount Vernon, New York; sisters, Geraldine Spencer Winder (Fred, deceased) of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Rebecca Spencer of Durham, North Carolina, Frances Anderson (Gene, deceased) of Columbia, North Carolina, Myra Shoffner of Hertford, North Carolina, Trucilla Spencer of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sadie Spencer of Atlanta, Georgia; her three grandchildren Jaheem, Tyler and Samara of North Carolina; long time companion, fiancé, Ronnie Hines of Roper, North Carolina; one aunt, Mary Spencer Shaw of Brooklyn, New York, one uncle, George Collins of Washington DC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whose lives she touched with her love and care.
