Vance Leroy McGee

With an abundance of love and concern, the Horton Family is embracing the heartbroken loved ones of Mr. Vance Leroy McGee as they prepare to say “Farewell” to this vital link to their family chain. Mr. McGee closed the curtains on this journey called life on  November 3,2021 while resting at Vidant Chowan Hospital in Edenton, NC.

The heartbreaking task of planning the Life Remembering services for have been finalized and will commence on Tuesday November 9,2021, from 6-8pm for moments of viewing and reflection at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations. Mr. McGee family will climax his life remembrance with a “Triumphant Homegoing Celebration ” on Thursday November 11,2021 commencing in the Sanctuary of Knox Grove Baptist Church Cleveland, NC at 2pm. Viewing will begin at 1pm u til time of service. Immediately following the recessional out of the sanctuary, Mr. McGee’s physical temple along with his cherished family will be escorted to the Knox Grove Church Cemetery Cleveland,NC for Interment Rites. As hard as it will be for Mr. McGee’s loved ones to depart without him, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing....We’ll understand it better all by and by.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life to seven sisters, Blanche Bailey Geter and Lillie Louise Krider of Statesville NC, Carrie Bailey Penn of New York, NY,  Margie May Krider and Frances Louise Anthony of Newton, NC, Bertha Bernice Crosby of Claremont, NC, Claudia Bailey Moses of Charlotte, NC, (2) brothers, James Bailey of Statesville, NC, Rev. Felix Bailey Jr. of Charlotte NC, former wife Mae Shell McGee of Hertford NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family.
