Shalonte Shernell White

Though the clouds may hang over  there will be a brighter day in that land, they call heaven God shall wipe all tears away….. 

With sincere compassion and concern, the Horton Family stands hand in hand with the relatives of Ms. Shalonte Shernell White as they prepare to celebrate her lasting legacy. Ms. White transitioned into eternal rest on May 19, 2025 receiving her heavenly summons in Washington, DC. 

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 12Noon at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel in Hertford, NC. A Viewing and Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 5pm-7pm at Isle of Patmos Baptist Church in Washington, DC. It will be an adjustment for Ms. White’s family and friends not being able to spend time with her any longer while here.  However, the silver lining is just as the songwriter penned, “When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be, when we all see Jesus we will sing and shout the victory.” 

Poobie leaves behind to cherish her memories, four sons of the home, Jacquire White, Javonte Loukas, JaVonni Loukas, and Jakai Loukas; parents, Gwendolyn White of the home and Earnell Granby (Francis) of Edenton N.C; Three brothers, Kionta White of Upper Marlboro Maryland, Earnell Granby Jr of Edenton N.C, and Erie Figg (Nikki) of Jacksonville, FL; Three Nieces, Ke' Aira White, Earnesha Granby, and Erieella Figgs and one nephew, Erie Figgs Jr.; six uncles, James White Sr (Darnell) of Edenton NC, Samuel White Sr. Delaware MD, Ira White " Squirrel " of  Edenton, Reginald Granby Sr. (Mary) Edenton, Melvin Granby (Flora) Winterville, NC and Wallace Granby (Shelby) Edenton, NC; Four Aunts, Carolyn Owens (Perry) of Maryland, Jacqueline Owens of Edenton, NC, Diane Bonner (Donald) of Chesapeake, Virginia and Willa Weeks (Malcom) Garner, NC; Three Great Aunts, One Great Uncle, and the father of her children, Nicholas Loukas and a host of cousins and friends.
