Ronald Lee Dodds III

On January 29, 2025, Ronald Lee Dodds, III of Portsmouth, Virginia, more commonly known as “Rudie”, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 47.  He was predeceased by his father, Ronald Lee Dodds, Jr., grandfather, Ronald Lee Dodds, Sr., and grandmother, June Wilk.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Crotts, son Austin Dodds, daughter Alexis Dodds, mother, Stephannie Dodds, sister, Kristen Dodds, grandfather, Louis Wilk, grandmother, Mary Dodds, and a host of extended family and friends. 

Rudie was born February 14, 1977. He grew up in Western Branch and attended Western Branch High School. He later moved to Portsmouth and worked for many years as a manager at Take 5 in Chesapeake. Rudie was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved sports, fishing, crabbing, music, camping, vacationing, bingo, and casinos. Rudie never knew a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. Of all the things Rudie loved, his family was at the top of his list. 

Services for Rudie will be held at Westhaven Baptist Church, located at 4900 Caroline Ave., Portsmouth, VA 23701 on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.  

The family will have a private gathering after the service.
