Nora Nixon Drew

As the day draws closer to the end than when it began, the Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Family joins with loving arms wrapped around the relatives of Mrs. Nora Nixon Drew as we embark on the “Last Mile” on this side of the Jordan with her. Mrs. Drew got her ticket and stepped on that Morning Train Saturday, August 20, 2022. 

The Glorious and Triumphant Life Celebration events have been methodically orchestrated and will proceed in the following order. Beginning on Friday, August 26, 2022 between the hours of 5pm and 7pm, moments of Viewing and Visitation will take place at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations. A Triumphant Celebration of Life Service will commence on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11am in the Main Sanctuary of Ryan’s Grove Baptist Church in Edenton, NC with Rev. George Harper, Officiating and Pastor Larry Lynch, Eulogist.

Immediately following the order of service, an intimate Committal Service will come forth in the Ryan’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. It is in this place that her physical temple will remain until time is called into eternity and those who are sleep in Christ will rise first to meet Him in the air.

As hard as it will be for Mrs. Drew’s loved ones to depart without her, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing.... “We’ll understand it better all by and by.”

Nora also leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters: Mattie Privott, Hattie Leary, and Tassie Nixon of Edenton, NC; two sons: Ervin Drew of Edenton, NC and Henry Drew Jr. (Lillian) of Suffolk, VA; two daughters: Debra McKinney and Julie Williams of Charlotte, NC; One stepdaughter: Deloris Fournillier (John) of Roosevelt, NY; Fifteen grandchildren: Regina Drew, Gary Fournillier, Kirk Fournillier, Michele Baptiste, Kevin Fournillier, Richard Fournillier, Shamika Drew, Keisha Drew, Makita Drew of Edenton, NC, Marcus Nixon of Greenville, NC, Quinton Drew of Greensboro, NC, Latavia Drew, Oneri Drew of Suffolk, VA, Xavier McKinney, Courtney McKinney of Charlotte, NC; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
