With tender hands of compassion and genuine hearts of love, the Horton Family joins with the devoted loved ones of Mr. Nathan Downing Sr. Better know as “Nate” as they prepare to say “until we meet again."  Mr.Downing, a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and lover of his Family and Life was greeted by his loving Savior Jesus Christ on May 13,2021 while resting at Vidant Medical Center Greenville, NC.

Services remembering a Life Well Lived will begin with a public gathering and visitation on Friday, May 21,2021 between the moments of 6pm-8pm as he rests in tranquil repose in the Viewing Parlor of Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations. The events will climax with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 22,2021 at 2pm at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Afterwhich, Mr. Downing and his adored family will be escorted to the New Bethel Church Cemetery Hertford,NC.  It is in this place that his physical temple will remain until time is called into eternity and those who are sleep in Christ will rise first to meet Him in the air. As hard as it will be for Mr. Downing’s loved ones to depart without him, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing....We’ll understand it better all by and by.”
