Mia Mecole Morris

With many mixed emotions and understandably broken hearts, the Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Family joins with family of Mia Mecole Morris as they prepare to say “Until We Reunite." Ms. Morris transitioned from this Life on May 17, 2023 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.

The heartbreaking task of planning the Life Remembering services for Ms. Morris have been finalized and will commence on Thursday, May 25,2023 at 2pm with a Triumphant Homegoing Celebration at Manteo First Assembly in Manteo, NC with Bishop DuWayne Gibbs, Eulogist and Reverend Dr. Michelle Lewis, Officiating. 

Following the order of service, Mia’s physical temple along with her cherished loved ones will be escorted to the Haven Creek Church Cemetery for Private Interment Rites. 

As hard as it will be for Mia’s loved ones to depart without her, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing.... “We’ll understand it better all by and by.”

Mia leaves precious memories to her devoted mother, Denise Morris; step-father, Ivan Howard; brother, Cameron Morris; grandmother, Mamie Morris; grandfather, Joe McMurrin; aunts, Nancy Collins, Glenda Banks (Larry), JoAnn Selby (Alvin), Cheryl Morris, and Rhonda Farrow; uncles, Wayne Morris, George Morris, and Lee Morris.
