Melvin Leroy “Red Fox” Winslow

With many mixed emotions and understandable broken hearts, the Horton Family joins with the family of Mr. Melvin Leroy Winslow as they prepare to say, “Rest in Peace”. Mr. Winslow better known as “Red Fox” transitioned from this Life on Wednesday May 3, 2023.

On May 11, 2023, beginning at 12noon a Celebratory Service of Remembrance will be held at Horton's Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel. Viewing and Visitation will take place beginning at 11am prior to the service at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations. During this time, family and visitors can reminisce on the days of old and embrace everlasting memories, while beginning the healing process as a result of this devastating loss. 

Melvin leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Delores Winslow of the home ; two sons Donte Winslow (Sylvia) of Hertford, NC, Devaun (Brandi) Winslow of Abilene TX; daughter Venus Privott (Jeffery)  of Hinesville, GA; two sisters, Velma Boone (Thomas) of Hertford, NC, Thelma Ward of Goldsboro NC; two brother in laws, William and Larry Gilliam , 2 special people Roy & Ella (Katie) Brothers; nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Melvin was also predeceased by four siblings, Kermit Jr., Ethel, Zelma, Sarah and Larue.

As hard as it will be for the loved ones of “Red Fox” to depart without him, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing.... “We’ll understand it better all by and by.”
