As the day draws closer to the end than when it began, the Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Family joins with loving arms wrapped around the relatives of Mr. Melvin Thomas Sr. as we embark on the “Last Mile” on this side of the Jordan with him. Mr. Thomas got his ticket and stepped on that Morning Train Tuesday, November 4, 2025 in Hertford, NC.
Services to commemorate Melvin’s Life will begin with a Viewing and Visitation on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 3pm to 5pm at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations with Military Honors beginning at 4:30pm and Masonic Rites beginning at 4:45pm. During this time, family and visitors can reminisce on the days of old and embrace everlasting memories, while beginning the healing process as a result of this devastating loss.
As hard as it will be for Melvin’s loved ones to depart without him, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing.... “We’ll understand it better all by and by.”
