Mary Elizabeth (Holley) Sessoms

With loving arms of compassion the Horton’s Funeral Home Family is consoling the heartbroken loved ones of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Sessoms as they prepare to take a journey that no family wishes to take. Mrs. Sessoms closed the curtains of life on Friday, August 26, 2022. 

The Glorious and Triumphant Life Celebration events have been methodically orchestrated and will proceed in the following order.  Beginning on Friday, September 2, 2022 between the hours of 5pm and 7pm at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremation, Mrs. Sessoms will lie in state for a final glimpse for family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 2pm at Ryan’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. George Harper, Eulogist. 

Immediately following the order of service, an intimate Committal Service will come forth in the Ryan’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. It is in this place that her physical temple will remain until time is called into eternity and those who are sleep in Christ will rise first to meet Him in the air.

As hard as it will be for Mary’s loved ones to depart without her, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing.... “We’ll understand it better all by and by.” 

Mary leaves behind her son, Jacque Holley (Sherala) of Locust Grove, GA, daughter, Yunika Felton (Micah) of Hertford, NC, Andre Winslow (Maryauna) of Smithfield, NC, five Godchildren, Deshaun Holley of Raleigh NC, Antuane Wilson of Pittsburgh, PA, Jairrod White of Virginia, and Timera Moore of Hertford NC, Shakiera Holley of Edenton NC. Eleven grandkids, Sonjala Mallory, Jazmyne Holley, Ja’Dan Holley, Jaslyn Holley, Armani & Imani Kee, Jacque Holley Jr, Jaleel  Holley, Micah Felton Jr, Amirah Williams, Aloni Winslow. Siblings, Tassie Swain (Cecil), Annie Hill (Edward) of Merry Hill, Henry Curtis Holley (Angela) of Columbus Ga, Burnell Holley of Atlanta Ga, Patricia Mayo (Solomon) of Stone Mountain, Ella Shannon of Brooklyn NY, Earl Holley (Angela) of Ahoskie NC, Nora Nowell(Lonnie) of Edenton, NC and Keith Holley(Teresa) of Goldsboro NC.  Special Friend, Tommy Jones of Hertford NC. A lifelong friend, Mary Ann Matthew. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she cherished.
