As the day draws closer to the end than when it began, the Horton Family joins with loving arms wrapped around the relatives of Mrs. Mary Frances Blount Nixon as we embark on the “Last Mile” on this side of the Jordan with her. Mrs. Nixon got her ticket and stepped on that morning train Saturday August 21,2021 at her residence.
Services to reflect on “The Dash” of Mrs. Nixon Life which was from her time of birth until the moment she entered into everlasting rest are finalized by her cherished family and are as follows. On Friday August 27, 2021 between the hours of 6pm to 8pm tender moments of reflection and viewing will take place at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations. While there, relatives and friends can unite in love and support for each other as they prepare to say “farewell" to Mrs. Mary. On Saturday August 28,2021 commencing at 1pm there will be a Triumphant Legacy Celebration in the Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel. Following the services in the chapel, Mrs. Nixon’s delicate temple along with her adored family will be escorted to the Beaver Hill Cemetery for committal rights.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents William and Sophia Blount, her husband Ernest Nixon Sr., one brother William Henry Blount (Gladys), 3 sisters - Matilda Blount Ranson (Briscoe), Martha Blount James (Kerry), Lillie Lightfoot, son Ernest Nixon, Jr., daughters Kay Frances Brothers and Mona Renee Banks, and grandson Kelvin Brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters Sharon Bond (James) of Chesapeake VA, Patricia V. Welch (Walter) of Washington DC, son-in-laws Kellum Brothers, Sr. of Edenton NC, and Leroy James Banks of District Heights MD, daughter-in-law Velma Holley Nixon of Edenton NC, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two brothers Vansie Blount of Hyattsville MD, Noah Blount (Viola) of Roper NC, two sisters Josephine Mathew of Greenville NC and Priscilla Ballard of Dallas TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
