Lucy Turner Obituary

With an abundance of love and concern, the Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Family is embracing the loved ones of Mrs. Lucy Ann McMurrin Turner as they prepare to say “Farewell” to a link to their family chain. Mrs. Turner closed the curtains on this journey called life Sunday December 10,2023.

Services to commemorate Mrs. Turner’s Life will begin with a public visitation on Saturday, December 16,2023 between the hours of 5pm and 7pm at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday December 17,2023 commencing at 1pm at Eastern Star Church of God in Christ with Pastor J.C. Purkett, Eulogist. During this time, family and visitors can reminisce on the days of old and embrace everlasting memories, while beginning the healing process as a result of this devastating loss.

Following the Life honoring services in the sanctuary, Mrs. Turner along with her adored family, will be escorted to her earthly resting place in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.

As hard as it will be for Mrs. Turner’s loved ones to depart without her, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing.... “We’ll understand it better all by and by.”

Lucy, also known as Ann leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Larry Turner, her children Crystal Bowe (Elizabeth City, NC), Damien Bowe (Tiffany) Newport News, VA, and grandchildren Leah Collins (TyQuan) and Christopher McMurrin and 1 great grandson Elias Dance.

Lucy also leaves three sisters, Margaret Henderson, Helen McMurrin and Catherine Brown and brothers Willie L. McMurrin (Mamie), Matthew "Len" McMurrin, Johnny Earl McMurrin Sr. (Faye), Lee Otis McMurrin, Kenneth Wayne McMurrin Sr., and Perry L. McMurrin Sr. She was preceded in death by both her parents, Kenyatta Bowe (daughter), Corrine Parker McMurrin Stokley (sister) and brothers Cleston Edward McMurrin (Tuck), James Noah McMurrin (Delphine) and Miles McMurrin in addition to her friend and son (NOT ANIMAL) Cesar Bowe.

The professionals at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations are accommodating each request and personal desire of the McMurrin and connected families.
