With sincere compassion and concern, the Horton Family stands hand in hand with the relatives of Mr. Joseph Nathan Sutton as they prepare to celebrate his lasting legacy. Mr. Sutton transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday February 5, 2025.
Services commemorating this priceless gem will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2pm at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations with Bishop Daniel Gilliam, Eulogist. A Viewing and Visitation will take place Friday, February 14, 2025 from 4pm-6pm. During this time, family and visitors can reminisce on the days of old and embrace everlasting memories, while beginning the healing process as a result of this devastating loss.
Immediately following the order of service, a Committal Service will come forth in the Bethel Church Cemetery in Roper, NC. It is in this place that his physical temple will remain until time is called into eternity and those who are sleep in Christ will rise first to meet Him in the air.
As hard as it will be for Joseph loved ones to depart without him, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing.... “We’ll understand it better all by and by.”
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Corliss D. Sutton of Roper, North Carolina; Three daughters; Latisha Spencer (Tristan) of Plymouth, North Carolina, Taleshia Wrighton of Atlanta, Georgia, and Hope Norman of Roper, North Carolina. Three sons; Joe Simpson of Boston, Massachusetts, Marcus Simpson (Sharon) of Raleigh, North Carolina and David Holley of Atlanta, Georgia. Three sisters; Rosa Holley (Robert Lee) of Plymouth, North Carolina, Anita Hickey (James) of Oceanside, California and Denise Baker (Joe) of Plymouth, North Carolina. Six brothers; Marvin Sutton (Mary) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Ralph Sutton of Lancaster, California, Donnell Sutton of Largo Florida, David Sutton of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Archie Sutton of Plymouth, North Carolina and Phillip Sutton of Edenton, North Carolina. Thirty-five grandkids, twenty-four great grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Joseph had a host of very special friends that he held close in his heart.
