Joseph Fredrick Reed Jr.

The moment has been determined by God and the task has been given to the Horton Family to advise all that Mr. Joseph Frederick Reed Jr. affectionately known as “Jose”and “Shag”departed this life on Monday July 27, 2020 leaving his bags behind but holding the hands of two angels dressed in white. No one said anything because all knew where he was going.

The heartbreaking task of planning the Life Remembering services for Jose have been finalized and will commence on Monday, August  3, 2020 from the hours of 6-7pm for moments of walk through viewing at New Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Virginia Beach, VA.  On Wednesday August 5, 2020 beginning promptly at 11am the Celebration of Life Service will take place at Beach Funeral Services and Cremations with his brother in law Rev. Dr. Hubert H. Wilson Jr. Officiating. Following the Order of Divine Worship in the Chapel Mr. Reed’s delicate vessel along with his adored family will be escorted to Hunting Quarters Baptist Church Stoney Creek,VA for Internment Rites. One may wonder why Jose would leave his earthly belongings here when he departed this past Monday, however, those close to him find comfort understanding that where Jose is now there was no need for any of his earthly garments or shoes because he has a pair of Golden Slippers and a Long White Robe and walking streets paved with Gold.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife, Carol L. Reed; one daughter, LaTresha Reed (Mother Lillie) of Virginia Beach, VA; three step-daughters, Felecia Jones-Sheffield of Tampa, FL, Lorri Jones of Virginia Beach, VA, Shankara Jones-McNair of Clinton, MD; one stepson, Karl (PJ) Daily of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister, Laura Byrd (Tony) of Jarrett, VA; one brother Bobby Reed (Joyce) of Chesapeake, VA; three aunts, Essie Westbrook (Neil) of Petersburg, VA, Lucile Reynolds of Greensboro, NC and Gladys Reed of Waverly, VA;  two uncles, Joseph Massenburg of Courtland, VA, and Jimmy Reed of Stoney Creek, VA; four grandchildren:  Zavion Reed, Deon Jones, Ashlee McNair and Nylah McNair; Special nephew, King Wilson; three brothers-in-law, Rev Hubert Wilson (Ernestine) of Virginia Beach, VA, Woodrow Wilson (Sondra) of Virginia Beach, VA and John Wilson (Ann) of Alexandria, LA; one sister-in-law Annie Horton(James) of Hertford, NC; special niece; Ebonee Byrd; special nephew; Rickey Wilson (Christy); Adopted Sister, Toni Barnes; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
