Janice Winslow Burton

It is with sincere sadness that the Horton’s Funeral Home Family announces the earthly transition of Mrs. Janice Winslow Burton. Mrs. Burton transitioned into eternal life on Thursday, May 5, 2022. 

Moments have been etched in time for family and friends to pay homage to Janice on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 1:30pm, where the Celebration of Life Service will be called to order in the sanctuary of Free Grace Church of Christ in Manteo, NC. 

Immediately following the formalities in the Sanctuary, Mrs. Burton’s earthen vessel along with her cherished family will be escorted to Free Grace Church Cemetery for Committal Rites.

Now Janice can find peace knowing she is now sitting at the welcome table hearing the Master say “Well-Done” thou good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over the things on earth, now I will make you ruler over many.

Janice left to embrace her legacy and cherish her memories her husband, Harris Burton; mother-in-love, Mrs. Mabel Porter of Manteo, NC; five children, Elder TJ Etheridge of Raleigh, NC, Milton Banks of Manteo, NC, Corey Burton(Denesha) of Kansas City, KS, Shelawn Burton of Elizabeth City, NC, Loretta Burton of the home; twelve grandchildren, Desiree(Doe), Khardijah, Rasheed, Daylon, Alana, Tiera, Jazae, Da’majae, Airakaya, Jermaine, Victoria, Layquaun; ten great-grandchildren; five sisters, Loretta Adams of Manteo, NC, Lynnet Rice(Marsellous) of Grandy, NC, Lucy Tillett of Poplar Branch, NC, Patricia Pledger of Jarvisburg, NC, Genevive Goodman(Rob) of Upper Marlboro, MD; two brothers, Bishop Howard Winslow(Apostle Marilyn) of Greenville, NC, Carlton Winslow(Jeanine) of Jarvisburg, NC; five sisters-in-love, Doris Smith(Bishop Alton), Diane Simms(John), Debbie Burton, Betty Selby, Darlene Govan; four brothers-in-love, James Burton, Larry Burton, George Govan, Bobby Govan(Keletta); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a very special brother-in-love who preceded her in death, Edgar (Poorboy) Govan III.
