James White Jr. Obituary

Though the clouds may hang over there will be a brighter day in that land, they call heaven God shall wipe all tears away…..

It is with sincere sadness that the Horton’s Funeral Home Family announces the earthly transition of James Edward White Jr. affectionately called “Junebug” as he peacefully answered the Master's call on Saturday May 2,2026 in Norfolk, VA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday May 11,2026 at 11am at New Hope COGIC  with Pastor Joseph Byrd, officiating. He will lie in state from 9am-until time of service.

Immediately following the services in the sanctuary,  “Junebug’s” delicate temple and cherished family will be escorted to the Forest Lawn Cemetery for internment rights.

Guests are being received at 6467 Horton Circle Norfolk, VA 23513 where they will also assemble in preparation for the Prestigious Horton Ebony Motorcade.

Although “Junebug” closed the drapes on this daily walk called life, those whom he loved and loved him can find solace knowing, he has walked into the Garden of Rest where everyday is as peaceful and beautiful as a bright Sunday morning and the sunlight brightens the day from the rays of our Heavenly Father.

He leaves to cherish his loving and devoted wife of 12 years, Tia White of Norfolk, Virginia; his three beloved children, Nahsim, Neyah, and Namina White, all of Norfolk, Virginia; his niece, Destiny White; nephew, Shawn White; and great-niece, Alori Austin, all of Chesapeake, Virginia. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Shirley Belcher-Lewis; sisters-in-law, Shirell and Sheryl Belcher; brothers-in-law, Jay and Andre Belcher; three aunts, Linda Stanley, Myrtle Stanley, and Annie Mae Copeland, all of Edenton, North Carolina; two uncles, Jack Stanley of Edenton, North Carolina, and Brian Eason of Norfolk, Virginia; along with a host of cousins, relatives, dear friends, and coworkers who will forever treasure his memory.

The Compassionate Professionals at Horton Funeral Home and Cremations are humbled to be a part of this precious family and serve them with uncompromising dignity and love during this difficult time.

Goodnight “Junebug”...Rest Well, we will see you in the morning.
