With an abundance of love and concern, the Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Family is embracing the loved ones of Mr. James Henry Meekins, as they prepare to say “Farewell” to a link to their family chain. Mr. Meekins closed the curtains on this journey called life Wednesday, November 1, 2023 while resting at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia.
Services to commemorate Mr. Meekins’ life, will begin with A Triumphant Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, November 9, 2023 commencing at 1pm at Manteo First Assembly in Manteo, NC. Mr. Meekins will lie in peaceful repose from 12Noon until time of service.
Following the life honoring services in the sanctuary, Mr. Meekins along with his adored family, will be escorted to his earthly resting place in the Haven Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Although this is a task that no family wishes to partake, God promised to give them a strength that surpasses all understanding and He can do what no other power can do.
James leaves precious memories to his wife, Phyllis Holmes Meekins of Palm Coast, FL; children, James Charity (Hope) of Tampa, FL, Eric Meekins of Washington, DC, Jerome Meekins of Manteo, NC, Gwendolyn Meekins of Lorton, VA, Randolph Mackey of Manteo, NC, and Jasper Mackey of Manteo, NC; Step-Children, Chyna Brantley (George) of Bowie, MD, and Courtney Holmes of Palm Coast, FL; Siblings, Charles Johnson of Montgomery, AL, Diane Johnson of Vredenburgh, AL, Cynthia Evans of Vredenburgh, AL, and Thomas Dunston of Manteo, NC; Grandchildren, Shannon Merritt (David), Ryan Charity, Joshua Meekins, Joseph Kulang, and Chynna Holmes; 4 Great-Grand Children; Aunt and Uncle, Wilma Keys (Lenwood) and Theodore R. Meekins. He also leaves a host of special cousins and close friends.
