With disconsolate and despondent hearts the Horton Family promulgate the transition of our beloved Mr. James Paul Horton.
The Dawn of Existence
On the first day of the fifth month of the year of nineteen thirty-six, the late Mattie Horton and Archie Foster welcomed into the world their newborn son. Upon his arrival they found it fitting to name this precious child James Paul Horton. The name James has biblical foundations and descriptors of leadership, strength and divine favor. James exemplified every elucidation of his name. He was born in Cedar Bluff, Alabama and matriculated through the public schools of Alabama. With the name of James, he decided to become a leader and one of strength and resilience and joined the United States Navy traveling all over the world. James met the love of his life Annie, they celebrated fifty-one years of marital bliss until she was called from labor to reward. After serving in the military James and his family settled down in Virginia for a while, upon his official retirement James and Annie moved to Hertford, NC. James believed in instilling entrepreneurship into the younger generation, the many conversations stuck with his younger son,Darius, which led to the opening of the Horton Funeral Home, where James was one of the founders.
A Time of Lament
The transmutation of Veteran Horton took place on Friday the seventh day of the second month of the year twenty-twenty five, surrounded by his loving family and caregivers.
A Time of Extol
On Saturday, the fifteenth day of February the Horton Family will allow their friends and extended family to ogle the earthly vessel from the allocated times of six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening. This ardent moment will take place on the premises of the Horton Funeral Home and Cremations in Hertford, NC where he will lie in placidity.
On Sunday, the sixteenth day of February the family will load into the exquisite ebony fleet to journey to Solemnize James Paul's life at the First Baptist Missionary Church, located at 211 Hyde Park Street, Hertford, NC, starting at three o'clock in the afternoon. Bishop Arthur Clark will be the official officiant, with James' beloved and dedicated son the Dr. Darius J. Horton providing the Eulogy for his best friend, mentor and travel partner.
The final portion of the last earthly rites given to James will take place on Monday, where he will receive much due Military Rites and will be entombed at Princess Anne Memorial Park, Virginia Beach, VA at two o'clock in the afternoon.

A Time to be a Psalms 112:6 Man
At the homestead of the Hortons and at the Horton's Funeral Home office will be a chair that will remain empty, where our loving father, friend, boss and mentor would normally sit comfortably. As a praying father we find assuagement in knowing that he is walking around Heaven all day. We pray to our Heavenly Father above that he will hold our hands when our ways get cloudy, we need him to be our guide. It brings us solace to know that our matriarch, Annie and patriarch, James are back together again.
A Time of John 14:18
The majestic service of triumphal jubilance will be conducted by the Horton's Funeral Home and Cremations staff, as they have the difficult task of laying to rest their very own Founder James Paul Horton.
