It is with sincere sadness that the Horton’s Funeral Home Family announces the earthly transition of Mr. Erwin Gilliam as he peacefully answered the Master's call on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
The heartbreaking task of planning the Life Remembering services for Mr. Gilliam have been finalized and will commence with a Memorial Service on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 2pm at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel.
As hard as it will be for Erwin’s loved ones to depart without him, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing.... “We’ll understand it better all by and by.”
He is preceded in death by his daughter Shaiasia Gilliam; mother, Carolyn Ruth Gilliam; 2 grandmothers, Marjorie White and Catherine Bunch; 3 maternal aunts and 2 uncles.
He is survived by his daughter, Ne’Keiseya L. Ward of Edenton, NC; his father, James Junior Leary of Merry Hill, NC and 6 sisters-Jacqueline Gilliam Littlejohn (Anton) of Baltimore, MD, Tamiko Shanik Gilliam of Edenton, NC, Yolanda Hayes of Rocky Mount, NC, Latoya Hayes of Tarboro, NC, Kathy Leary of Elizabeth City, NC and Jalisa Leary of Williamston, NC.
He leaves to mourn 4 paternal aunts and 2 uncles, 4 maternal uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The professionals at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations are accommodating each request and personal desire of the Gilliam and connected families.
