Ersell McCullen Sr.

Our loving arms of compassion are wrapped around the heartbroken shoulders of the family of Mr. Ersell McCullen Sr.  who answered the Master's Call on Sunday, March 22, 2026. 

On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, beginning at 11am a Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. During this time, family and visitors can reminisce on the days of old and embrace everlasting memories, while beginning the healing process as a result of this devastating loss. 

Although Ersell closed the drapes on this daily walk called life, those whom he loved and loved him can find solace knowing, he has walked into the Garden of Rest where every day is as peaceful and beautiful as a bright Sunday morning and the sunlight brightens the day from the rays of our Heavenly Father.

Ersell is survived by his wife of (32) years, Verna Skinner-McCullen, Jesup, Ga.; his son, Ersell McCullen, Jr., Hinesville, Ga.; his grandchildren, Ersell III, Isaiah, Armani, Jiryn and Elijah; his sister, Zena (Ervin) Jackson and his brother, Willis “Jo Jo” McCullen, both of Elizabeth City, NC; a uncle, Willie John McCullen, Fayetteville, NC; a cousin who was like an uncle, Vernon (Brenda) Johnson, Elizabeth City, NC; his close friends, Darren Jackson, Reginal Ford and his Dept. of Corrections family; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends who will miss him dearly.
