Erma Doretha “Peanut” (Lee) Harris

With humbled hearts and consoling minds, the Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Family serves notice that Ms. Erma Doretha Harris laid down the cares of this world on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. From there, she picked up her new wardrobe and golden keys for her everlasting life in Heaven.

The heartbreaking task of planning the Life Remembering services for “Peanut” have been finalized and will commence with a Viewing and Visitation on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations from 5pm-7pm where Ms. Harris will lie in state for a final glimpse for family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 1pm at Melton Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Alvin J. Boone Sr., Officiating and Rev. Calvin Billups, Eulogist.

Erma D.  Lee Harris affectionately known as Peanut born in Harlem New York on November 2, 1957. When she was three days old she was taken to North Carolina to be raised by her maternal grandmother Elva Jane Lee. Peanut Graduated from Perquimans County HighSchool.  At an early age she joined St. Paul AME Zion Church where she also became a deaconess until relocating to Durham, North Carolina.

She  attended Lafayette Community College in Fayetteville North Carolina and Fayetteville Tech Community College. She also attended College of the Albermale where she had obtained her degree in cosmetology.  Her passion was cooking, reading, and spending time with family! She was always helping others, ready to leans a helping had, to offer words of encouragement. Peanut was a mother first, a devoted mother and awesome grandmother.
Proceeding her in death maternal grandmother Elva Jane Lee and mother Yvonne Erma Lee paternal grandfather Raven Dennis and father Raven Dennis Jr.

She leaves to cherish her loving, loving memories To her three beautiful daughters, Symoria Harris Raleigh NC, 
Tomeka Harris Baltimore Maryland 
Shavon Harris Raleigh NC , sons, William Michael Harris Jr. (Shanae) Durham NC, Reginald Booboo Combs (Resheema) Hertford NC; Ten grandchildren Tevin, JR, Taheem, Ce’Nodric, A’Nyla, Treviyon, Jayden, A’shaunce, Micah, Talia and  three great grandchildren Denver, Serenity and True; six sisters, Yvonne Love, Anita (Princess) Williams, Evelyn Dennis, Cecilia Dennis, Lakeisha Dennis, And Patricia Hall five Brothers, Ray (lil Ray) Hall, Patrick (Cakeman) Raven Dennis lll, Aaron Dennis, Howard Ervin And Larry Brickous (Kathy) Godchildren Lakisha & Sharnae Brickous, Antoine Jones, Jackie Hunter and Tyleata Felton Simpson; special life long friends, Bertha Wells, Claudia (Renee) Downing, Bertha (Micey) Foster, Connie White  and Doresia Land and a host of nieces,nephew, family and friends.
 
Guest are being received at 613 Wynne Fork Rd Hertford NC where they will assemble in preparation for the Prestigious Horton’s Ebony Motorcade
