Though the clouds may hang over there will be a brighter day in that land, they call heaven God shall wipe all tears away…..
With an abundance of love and concern, the Horton Family is embracing the heartbroken loved ones of Mrs. Ella Mae Brothers as they prepare to say “Farewell” to this vital link to their family chain. Mrs. Brothers closed the curtains on this journey called life on Friday, January 9, 2026.
The heartbreaking task of planning the Life Remembering services for Ella has been finalized and will commence with a Viewing and Visitation at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 6pm-7pm. The Triumphant Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 1pm at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. William Sawyer, Eulogist/Pastor.
Although Ella closed the drapes on this daily walk called life, those whom she loved and loved her can find solace knowing, she has walked into the Garden of Rest where everyday is as peaceful and beautiful as a bright Sunday morning and the sunlight brightens the day from the rays of our Heavenly Father.
Cherishing her memory is her devoted husband, Roy Lee Brothers, Sr. of the home; one daughter, Delores Winslow of Hinesville, GA; three sons, William Gilliam of Greenville, NC, Larry Gilliam of Allentown, PA and David Brothers of Hertford, NC; her mother, Irene Nixon of Edenton, NC; two sisters, Rosetta Nixon of Edenton, NC and Deborah Krull (Damien) of Burlington, NC; two brothers, Andrew Lee Nixon (Jovie) and half-brother, Dennis Jones of Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves a special nephew, Jerry Nixon and niece, Barbara Ann Nixon, who are like her own children; 22 Grandchildren, 19 Great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The Compassionate Professionals of Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations is providing the unconditional support and compassion to the Brothers and connected families throughout this journey and beyond.
Goodnight “Ella”...Rest Well, we will see you in the morning.
