The staff and management of the Horton’s Funeral Home embrace the loving family of Mr. Edwin Ray Blount Jr. affectionately called “RJ” as they remember this precious jewel. RJ retired from life’s fitful fevers and answered the masters call on Wednesday October 29, 2025 at ECU Medical Center in Greenville, NC

The Obsequies for RJ will begin on Saturday, November 15, 2025 with a public visitation between the hour of 11 and 12noon in the Sanctuary of Zion Grove Church of Christ Disciples of Christ Columbia, NC. Being called to order promptly at 12 noon a Triumphant Celebration of Life will commence at Zion Grove Church of Christ Disciples of Christ Columbia,NC with Dr. Jerry E. Langley, officiating. Yes, this is as far as “RJ’s” relatives can trod with him on this side of eternity, however, John the Revelator has sent good news to RJ’s loving family when he sat one day and put pen to parchment writing, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and they shall be no more death neither sorrow because the former things have passed away.” Let the church say......... Amen. 

RJ leaves to cherish his wonderful memories, his wife, Aja Blount; father, Edwin Blount Sr;  siblings,Kimberly Barnes, Courtney Blount, Jarod Spencer, and Christopher Betts; two nieces Amani and Acaia; four nephews, Dajour, Elijah, Aseyah , Ky and a host of aunts,uncles cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by mother, Bobbie Jo Barnes, grandfather John H. Barnes; aunt Mary Barnes, cousins, Bambi Lassiter Barnes, Najee Lassiter Barnes 

Guest are being received at 1060 Carl Brown Road Jamesville, NC 27846 where they will also assemble in preparation for the Prestigious Horton Ebony Motorcade.
