Della Louise (Ford) Hassell

Though the clouds may hang over  there will be a brighter day  in that land, they call heaven  God shall wipe all tears away….. 

With an abundance of love and concern, the Horton Family is embracing the heartbroken loved ones of Mrs. Della Louise Hassell as they prepare to say “Farewell” to this vital link to their family chain. Mrs. Hassell closed the curtains on this journey called life on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. 

The heartbreaking task of planning the Life Remembering services for Della has been finalized and will commence with a Celebration of Life on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 1pm at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel. 

Following the formalities in the chapel, Mrs. Hassell’s delicate temple along with her adored family, will be escorted to Beaver Hill Cemetery for Interment Rites. 

Although Della closed the drapes on this daily walk called life, those whom she loved and loved her can find solace knowing, she has walked into the Garden of Rest where everyday is as peaceful and beautiful as a bright Sunday morning and the sunlight brightens the day from the rays of our Heavenly Father.

Della leaves to cherish her precious memories her three children, Shelia (Michael) Hassell of Kitty Hawk, NC, Roy (Alisa) Hassell of Newport News, VA, and Christopher Hassell of Winterville, NC; God Children, Dwain Wolfe, David Sutton Jr, Ava Lightfoot, and Stephanie Lightfoot. She also leaves cherished memories to her Grandchildren, Da'Visha Hassell, Roy (Tiffany) Stallings, O'sha White, Elijah Hassell, Isaiah Hassell, Shenita Wolfe, Sade Wolfe and Shana Wolfe; siblings, Mary Lightfoot of Edenton, NC, Norman Ford of Edenton, NC and Alphonso Cooper of Brooklyn, NY. Her blessed legacy will forever be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
