Deaconess Lydia Brown Obituary

With a multitude of compassion and concern, the Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations Family announces the earthly departure of Mrs. Lydia Pearl Simpson Brown. Mrs. Brown pulled the drapes on this journey called life on Monday, October 10, 2022 in Elizabeth City, NC.

Deaconess Lydia Pearl Simpson Brown was born October 1,1928 in Perquimans County. She was the second oldest of four children, born to Jesse Simpson and Anna Mabel Green Simpson. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James Simpson and Eli Simpson; and sister, Bessie Simpson Dillard Brown.

Services to reflect Mrs. Brown’s rich life sketch from her time of birth until the moment she entered into everlasting rest are finalized by her cherished family. On Saturday, October 15, 2022 between the hours of 6pm and 8pm at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations in Hertford, NC tender moments of reflection will take place. While there, relatives and friends can unite in love and support for each other as they prepare to say “farewell.”  On Sunday, October 16, 2022 commencing at 2pm there will be a Triumphant Legacy Celebration at the Galatia Missionary Baptist Church.

On Monday, October 17, 2022 at 2pm, Mrs. Brown’s delicate temple along with her adored family will be escorted to the Westlawn Cemetery Elizabeth City, NC for Interment Rites.

Mrs. Brown was so much to so many and it will be difficult with her no longer being with us on this side.  However, those who loved her can find solace knowing she is now strolling the streets paved with pure gold free from all of life’s fitful fevers. There, she’s sitting at the Welcome Table feasting on milk and honey while enjoying being in the presence of her Heavenly Father.

Her precious memories will linger in the hearts of: Her four daughters, Annie B. Ferebee, Clarissa B. Gibson (Charlie), Glenda Brown Thomas (Wendell) all of Elizabeth City, NC, and Lillie Brown Clark(Ronald) of Zebulon, NC; four sons, Bishop Miles Brown III (Prophetess Mittie Joyce) of Magnolia, DE, Zachariah Brown (Betty), Jesse Brown, and Pete Brown all of Elizabeth City, NC.; thirty-five grandchildren; seventy-eight great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Compassionate Professionals at Horton’s Funeral Homes and Cremations are working around the clock to ensure that the Brown and connected families every need is attended too.
