It is with sincere sadness that the Horton’s Funeral Home Family announces the earthly transition of Mr. Charlie “Gene” Skinner, Jr. as he peacefully answered the Master's call on July 23, 2025.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Melton Grove Baptist Church at 12Noon with Rev. Alvin J. Boone, Pastor/Eulogist.
Immediately following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Skinner’s delicate temple will be escorted to the Cedarwood Cemetery for interment rights.
Although Charlie closed the drapes on this daily walk called life, those whom he loved and loved him can find solace knowing, he has walked into the Garden of Rest where everyday is as peaceful and beautiful as a bright Sunday morning and the sunlight brightens the day from the rays of our Heavenly Father.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Dianne Skinner; his daughter Matrice B. Skinner and granddaughters Tierra and Kierra; his son Charles Skinner, wife Michelle, and grandchildren Aden and Charli; and his son Devon Skinner, wife Jolene, and granddaughter Harley.
He is also survived by his brothers James, Jasper, and Forest Skinner; many cherished nieces and nephews; and his lifelong best friend, Hardy Wiggins, who was like a brother to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie E. Skinner and Matrice A. Skinner, his brothers Joe and Walter Skinner, and his sister Mary Skinner.
The Compassionate Professionals at Horton Funeral Home and Cremations are humbled to be a part of this precious family and serve them with uncompromising dignity and love during this difficult time.
