Carmilla Burke Arline

It is with sincere sadness that the Horton’s Funeral Home Family announces the earthly transition of Mrs. Carmilla Arline Burke as she peacefully answered the Master's call on Friday, May 6, 2022 in Winfall, North Carolina. 

The heartbreaking task of planning the Life Remembering services for Carmilla have been finalized and will commence on Saturday, May 14, 2022 beginning with viewing and visitation at Horton’s Funeral Home in Hertford, NC between the hours of 6pm and 8pm. Mrs. Arline’s family will climax her life remembrance with a “Loving Farewell” Ceremony on Sunday, May 15, 2022 beginning at 2pm at Popular Run  AME Zion Church. 

Immediately following the formalities in the Sanctuary, Mrs. Arline’s earthen vessel along with her cherished family will be escorted to Johnson Family Cemetery for Committal Rites.

She leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories:  son, Willie Sellers (L’Cristi) of Belvidere, NC and daughter, Lucretia Sellers of PA; Seven grandchildren, La’Shawn, Marquis, Shytiona, Harmony, Crishya, Reashun and Carissma; Six great-grandchildren, De’Arie, Layla, Khy’lin, Breeland, Sacred, Brielle; Two brothers, Eugene Burke of Hertford, NC and Reginald Burke (Lynn) of San Antonio,TX; Sister, Lucretia Washington (Ellis) of Winfall, NC and Sister-in-law, Mona Burke of CT; Four aunts, Betty Johnson of Winfall, NC, Yvonne Robinson of San Francisco CA, Marion Ruff and Dorothy Burke of Huntsville AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

As hard as it will be for Carmilla’s loved ones to depart without her, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing.... “We’ll understand it better all by and by.” 

The professionals at Horton’s Funeral Home and Cremations are accommodating each request and personal desire of the Arline and connected families.
