Annie Horton Obituary

With earnest and ardent hearts, the Horton's Funeral Home Family must circularize the passing of our very own Mother Annie Odell Harvey Horton.

A Time to be Born
On the thirteenth day of January in the year of nineteen thirty five Willie Harvey and Carrie Wilson chose to name their beautiful daughter Annie. The name Annie is derived from the Hebrew language meaning being gracious and favored. From her birth until her departure Mother Annie inhabited the meaning of her name daily and instilled in her children and family the power of prayer and depending on Jesus.

A Time to Mourn
Mother Horton evanesce on Saturday, the second day of the year two thousand twenty one at her residence comforted and surrounded by her devoted family.

A Time to Celebrate
On Friday, the eighth day of January the Horton Family will allow friends and extended family members to decry her earthly vessel from the allotted times of six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening. This sacred moment will take place on the campus of the Horton Funeral Home, Hertford, NC where she will lie in descry.
On Saturday, the ninth of January the family will convoke at 4456 Bonney Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia at eleven o'clock in the morning. The family will load in the exquisite Silver and Burgundy fleet and formally proceed to the E. Ray Cox Convocation Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia for her twelve noon majestic service of triumphal jubilance.

A Time to be a Proverbs 31 Woman
Mother Horton was the epitome of a virtuous woman. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years of martial bliss Mr.James P. Horton of the home; two loving daughters-Yvonne Costley of Franklin, VA, and Brenda Smith of Chesapeake, VA; five caring sons-  Bernard Griffin of Horsehead, NY, Willie Lynch of Littleton, NC, Hubert Horton of Chesapeake, VA, Andre Horton of Hertford, NC  and Rev. Dr. Darius J. Horton of Elizabeth City, NC; two devoted brothers- Rev. Dr. Hubert H. Wilson Jr. (Ernestine) of Virginia Beach, VA, John Wilson (Ann) of Alexande, LA; one beautiful sister-Carol Reed of Clinton, MD; the apple of her eyes her grandchildren-Mande Woodbury, Toshonda Costley, Danielle Smith Jones, Roger Holmes, Kurt Voitsberger, Clarissa Horton, Jerel Horton and Delton Horton; four wonderful great-grandchildren-Taron Robinson,Hurley Holmes, Harper Homes and Amelia Horton; one of her best friends her dog Tiny Horton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

A Time to be Remembered
It will be an empty chair at the Hortons homestead where Mother Annie would normally sit. The family can find solace in knowing that her new table includes all the saints gone beforehand. All we can do is request that Mother Annie saves a seat for all of us. There is improbable thoughts that she is draped in her Heavenly robe and her crown has been placed upon her head, while she sings the glorious melody of, Just as Soon as my Feet Strike Zion.
