Rufus Mason Rouse

With tender hands of compassion and genuine hearts of love, the Horton Family joins with the devoted loved ones of Mr. Rufus "Swivel Hips" Rouse as they prepare to say “until we meet again." Mr. Rouse a devoted World War II Navy Veteran was greeted by his loving Savior Jesus Christ along with others in the Heavenly Host on Memorial Day May 27,2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Services remembering a Life Well-Lived will begin with a public gathering and visitation on Friday, May 31,2019 between the moments of 6pm-8pm as he rests in tranquil repose at the altar at St. Paul A. M. E. Zion Church. The events will climax with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 1,2019 at 2pm at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Afterwhich, Mr. Rouse and his adored family will be escorted to the Cedarwood Cemetery Hertford,NC.  It is in this place that his physical temple will remain until time is called into eternity and those who are sleep in Christ will rise first to meet Him in the air. As hard as it will be for Mr. Rouse’s loved ones to depart without him, God our Heavenly Father promised to give peace that will surpass all of our understanding even in the midst of grief and sorrow. The hymnologist said it best... when he put pen to parchment writing....We’ll understand it better all by and by.”

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 69 years, Lenora Billups Rouse; two daughters, Patricia Rouse and Anita Rouse Phillips(Wayne); son, Keith Rouse; sister, Harriet Rouse; seven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grand children.

The family is receiving guests at the residence, 305 Dobbs Street Hertford, NC where they will also assemble in preparation for the Prestigious Horton Ebony Motorcade Saturday prior to the Celebration of Life.
